Job Description
The position is for a full-time, Unarmed Special Conservator of the Peace (Scop), armed security officer. If you are a licensed, Unarmed Security Officer with DCJS of Virginia, prior Law Enforcement, military or Corrections Officer, with a minimum of 2 years security experience or equivalent, we will train you for this position. This will be 12 hour shifts, for a total of 84 hours every 2 weeks, in Christiansburg, Virginia. The Scop Officer will be dispatched to take custody of individuals under TDOs from Law Enforcement Officers and maintain custody of the individual while being assessed, until an available in-patient bed is located and transport is necessary, or the individual is discharged.
Additional Job Requirements
- Effective reading, writing and communication skills
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the site
- Valid state motor vehicle operator's license required
- Clean driving record required
- Ability to pass a criminal background Investigation
- Ability to pass random drug screening
- DCJS of Virginia registration as an Unarmed Special Conservator of the Peace or Unarmed Security Officer Required, Scop Training will be provided
- Must have a minimum of 2 years security or equivalent experience
- CIT Training preferred, but we will provide training
- Licensed, Unarmed Security Officer with DCJS of Virginia, OR prior Law Enforcement, military or Corrections Officer experience
- High school diploma or GED (Required)
- Security experience (Required)
- Writing skills (Required)
- Communication skills (Required)
- Driving experience preferred
- Valid Driver's License (Required)
Schedule
- Full-time position
- 12-hour shifts
- Total of 84 hours every 2 weeks
- Expected hours: 42 per week
- Location: Christiansburg, Virginia
